Never ending pain?
Good morning Ladies-- please tell me there is an end to the pain. I had a BMX with node dissection on 11/14 and the nerve(?) damage in the arm is never ending pain. I've asked the surgeon for PT and she says no not yet but I have hardly any range of motion in that arm and when I do the pain is like a blinding light. I awake each morning to a fire across my chest. Is this normal? Does it get better?

Hi there. I'm so sorry you are suffering. IMO the pain you describe sounds like neuropathic pain. You might benefit from a neuropathy drug like Neurontin or the like. Good luck and keep us posted...

Nulyte, I'm so sorry you're having this pain so intensely. I had a UMX one week after you had your BMX and node dissection, and I'm having burning/stinging in the armpit/back of arm area, and I only had 2 nodes removed. I don't want anything to touch the area. So I can't be the one to tell you that it does go away, simply because I'm just not there yet. But let me pass along to you the many reassurances I've received that yes, it DOES go away. From doctors, from nurses, from people who have been here before. If it's unbearable, I second dtad in that you can ask for something to help. In the meantime, hang in there. Know we're thinking of you.

Hang in there! I had a BMX on Sept 19. I had the exact pain. It was so bad I wanted to rip the TE's out. It WILL get better in time. It is nerve pain. By week six my pain was gone and tge,TEs are just a small annoyance now.
I'm also doing PT which has helped so much with range of motion.

Nulyte- I had my BMX with left ALND on 11-3..just in the last week has my left arm pain finally resolved. I was able to do the exercises but arm hurt so bad I didn't do as many reps. I also awoke with pain until recently. I am sorry we all have to go through this..time did help me. Wishing you a quick recovery.

Nulyte- I had BMX with left ALND on 11/2. Until the last few days, I also had the same arm pain. I was able to do my exercises, except when it came to climbing the wall..I couldn't even crawl! I also awoke with a burning pain. In my case, I think it just took that much time to start the nerves to heal. I also took daily pain medication until last week. Now I am just dealing with the weird sensations of the TE's, as I await radiation. BTW, I had 15 nodes removed. I am sorry you are so uncomfortable..this disease can be so frustrating. I hope your recovery improves!

it will get better but it takes a while. Keep working on it even though it hurts really bad. I will not say it will completely stop hurting. It has been over 8 years for me but most days it is a lot better. Most of my pain is from radiation and I have fat necrosis. That hurts me now
