Hi all,

First of all I want to thank you all for being here!! I am beyond grateful for all of your stories and your willingness to share. Although I don't know any of you personally it makes me feel less alone in my journey. ☺

Anyway I'm 37. I have 2 kids (6 and 3) and I breastfed both of them for 2 years. I weaned my son about 8 months ago and decided I should see my dr because I've always felt I had lumpy breasts. It's impossible for me to tell what was new or what could be considered a lump. The nurse practitioner said I definitely have lumpy bumpy breasts and sent me for a diagnostic bilateral mammogram.

The tech at the women's health center sent me to a waiting room after my scan to wait for the radiologist. Long story short, he told me I needed a follow up US to confirm that my mass was a cyst. I got in for US 1 12 wks later and he told me it was a benign fibroadenoma. He recommended a follow up in 6 months. I decided there was no way I was waiting that long and to go ahead and schedule a biopsy. Even at the biopsy he told me he was 99% certain the results would come back as fibroadenoma.

He called me the next morning (yesterday) and told me he had mostly good news. That my mass is a very rare condition called PASH but that there is also a 1mm atypical ductal hyperplasia and that the pathologist recommends I get it excised to be sure there's no suspicious tissue in the surrounding areas. Not what I had expected to hear at all!

I have an appt with a BS in 6 days. As I'm sure all you know, the waiting is so hard! I'm trying to be present for my family and present in my life, but I kind of just want to hole up in my room with my computer and xanax and wait out the 6 days. Ha! Don't worry. I'm not doing that...most of the time anyway.

I've started reading through all the ADH club thread and mostly have seen people with micro calcifications where the ADH was found, although I could be interpreting wrong. Has anyone had it found in a lesion/mass? Does them finding Atypical Hyperplasia mean I have an ADH diagnosis?

Thanks again

yes, ADH stands for atypical ductal hyperplasia. Even though it is so small (which is a good thing), they are recommending it be excised (along with the benign fibroadenoma) to make sure that nothing more serious (DCIS, LCIS, or invasive bc) is in there along with it. (statistically, the chances are highly likely there isn't, so try not to worry , but I know that is easier said than done). Try to keep busy with other things to make the time go by faster and keep your mind off of it.

thanks for replying. The diagnosis of fibroadenoma was actually wrong. I know the tumor has PASH in it and ADH.

I'm scheduled for excision Dec 28. Thankfully I have Christmas to keep me preoccupied.
