Waiting for PET scan to see if it has spread
Hi everyone. I was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Here is the link to my first post on the "waiting for results" board.
https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/62/topics...
I don't know yet the ER,PR, HEP-2, or ki67 status. I have a Grade 2 tumor/s and they are intraducular carcinoma, infiltrative.
I was told I am maybe a Stage lll (maybe 2). I will start chemo next week and I won't get my mastectomy until I am done with chemo because the tumor is so large and lymph nodes are involved. I will be getting a breast MRI next week to get a better look at the tumor/s and also a PET/CT scan next week to see if it has spread.
I am most frightened that it has spread because of how big it is, that lymph nodes are involved, and how long I have apparently had jt
I will update you when I know more

Just try to relax and breath. It is a lot to take in all at once and a lot to process. I was recently diagnosed and the additoinal testing is starting to make me anxious. I just had a Bone Scan last week that came back normal and all testing shows that it hasn't spread. I was really concerned about my Bone Scan because I have elevated muscle enzymes and extreme muscle weakness. Luckily the Bone Scan was clean. I had some baseline bloodwork done on Tuesday and the doctor just called me today because she wants me to get a MRI done of my liver due to raised enzymes. This after I had a CT Scan and ultrasound of the liver ordered by my PCP just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it didn't include contrast so now I have one more test (fingers crossed) to deal with. I have literally been having test run since September 6th and only recently diagnosed in November. Just when you think all of the testing is done there always seems to be one more test to take. It's a lot!
It is very possible that it hasn't moved beyond the breast and lymph nodes. I'm praying that you have had no spread of the cancer. Please try to relax (I know it is hard to do) and try to get through it as best you can. Is there anyone you can take with you for testing? Sometime sit helps to have someone there with you to take your mind off things temporarily. Hopefully you are with a center or doctor who gets test results back quickly. That helps.
I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Cancer Sucks!

Thanks so much everyone for the well wishes and encouragement and responding to what I said.
@dcdrogers, I really hope that your tests continue to be negative. You must be so scared, especially having abnormal lab tests of your muscle enzymes and liver enzymes. I am just reasoning right now based on what other symptoms I have, I don't have any concrete evidence yet. It is encouraging that even with some abnormal tests your scans have come back clean. I really hope your liver scan with contrast comes back okay.
I forgot to mention this, but I have also lost 30lbs in the last few months which is another reason I am so scared along with the neck pain I have had for months and how big the tumor is and how long I have had it.
I wonder why they haven't scheduled to take out my lymph nodes yet. I really hope it hasn't spread. Please update us. What are knitted knockers? I won't get my mastectomy until after my chemo

Actually I had the BMX, lymph node dissection, and a Sentinel node biopsy. This scan was to check to see if its spread. I should have results tomorrow when I see my surgeon.

"Everything" that shows up on a PET Scan is not automatically a maligancy! PET Scan show up inflammation which may or may not be a malignancy. My PET Scan 'lit up' on an area along my lower jaw. The area was biopsied that afternoon to check on it, the next morning had the path. back on it and there was nothing there to worry about.

Thank you for that.....Just finishing chemo (stage IV) and gonna have my PET next week....starting to get hard to sleep even with meds!!
