MRI shows suspicious spots on spine

Options

Hi sisters, need your advice and sharing your experience. I was diagnosed in Jan 2015, had chemo, rads, prophylactic mastectomy and hysterectomy. In November, I had an annual whole body MRI screening and found something suspicious on T2. A friend of mine who is a radiologist also found a small spot on T9 (which is missed by my radiologists). They went back to the scan I had in July 2015 and found that those spots were there already. But these spots have not grown much in the past 16 months. My oncologist suggests that I have a followup MRI in 3 months. He said even if I have a PET now, he won't be able to have a final diagnosis because even if the spots light up in PET, he won't be able to do a biopsy because the location is tricky and they are small (the largest being 0.93cmx0.53cmx0.67cm). I am completely lost now. Should I just wait for another three months?

Tricky situation! Sorry you're dealing with this. Can you get a second opinion? The fact that the one spot has not grown is great news; it means this other spot is likely going to be similar, but 3 months is a long time to wait in limbo (at least for me; I would stew teh whole time and not sleep well). Could they do 6 weeks instead? What prompted the MRI? Were you having symptoms?
