Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy Question

My sister was just diagnosed with a 2.5cm IDC er/pr+ her- grade 2 breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy today with a sentinel node biopsy. The doctor said the lymp nodes were swollen, but won't know anything until the report comes back. Does this mean the cancer has spread?

No, but the good news is that they'll check them. Lymph nodes can be swollen for many reasons.

Not necessarily, the PATH report needs to come back and they will let her know how nany nodes were involved. They will most likely want to do a PET scan to see if the cancer has spread.
