Throughout the holiday season we're busy looking after others, and we must remember to do the same for ourselves.

This season, please consider treating yourself to the gift of knowledge. Knowledge about coping with metastatic breast cancer, learning about what treatment options are available (including approved therapies your doctor might not have mentioned), how to search for a clinical trial, and tips about dealing with side effects such as neuropathy, nausea, and more.

Since writing the 125-page booklet called, "The Insider's Guide to Metastatic Breast Cancer," I've forwarded more than 1,500 copies to patients and caregivers around the world.Their responses have been uniformly positive:

"I have had metastatic breast cancer to the bone for three years now and this is the first time that I have read something that really explains things for me so clearly."

"I spent a few hours this morning perusing your Guide and I must say that it is fantastic! I have been spending countless hours trying to pull things up on the Internet since my diagnosis. Even things as basic as trying to understand what my lab results mean, how to read the numbers, how do I keep track of all the potential therapies...I could go on and on. Everything I have needed to know is there! This is the most helpful and comprehensive thing I have found."

"I can't thank you enough for assembling all this information in one place and making it so easy to understand and reference, and then offering it to us for free! From what I've seen, it's the best information out there for Stage IV patients to guide us through all the twists and turns of our treatment."

To request your free copy of "The Insider's Guide to Metastatic Breast Cancer", please follow the 2-step instructions below:

Step 1) Email your request to bestbird@hotmail.com

Step 2) In the Subject Line of your request, type in the words: MBC Document Terms Accepted by <your email address>

By submitting your request as described above, you are accepting the TERMS below:

Bestbird, It has been almost a year and a half since I received your guide, and I still refer to it for information when I experience new symptoms or side effects or am faced with the possibility of a change in treatments or just want to clarify something I have heard about. I cannot thank you enough for compiling all the information and making it available to all of us here.

In addition to your guide, you continue to provide support through your thoughtful, useful posts. Thank you for sharing not only your guide, but so much of yourself.

I wish you joy and peace during this holiday season.

    Lynne

Lynne and artistatheart, thank you for sharing your lovely words, and for your perspective about "The Insider's Guide to Metastatic Breast Cancer."

Lynne, your note served as a reminder to me to let people know that I am constantly researching mbc, and continue to keep the booklet updated. Hence, if someone has already requested and received the Guide a year or so ago, they are welcome to request a current copy by following the instructions above and adding "Repeat Requestor" in their email!

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!

The Guide is an invaluable resource - and the author of course has written it with the understanding and clarity that comes from walking this walk herself.

Knowledge helps us be an active participants in our treatment and our decisions which is, IMO, a source of great strength on this hard road.

    Thanks again Bestbird
