Hi fellow fighters,

Just a quick question as I get ready to schedule my unilateral mastectomy and sentinel lymph node check. How was the recovery and how long should I expect to be of work. I work in an office environment and have a laptop that I can work from home with. But wanted to hear others feedback.

Thank u!

Traci

The drain came out on day 6 and I drove the next day..... to work. Now mind you my job is part time, very flexible, not physical. Having only UMX meant I still have one good arm. It took many months to be able to use the left one normally again.

I could have gone back in 2 weeks but emotionally I wasn't ready.

Thanks all for your comments, just trying to get all my ducks in a row for my work situation, etc.

    Still overwhelmed with everything.

    Hugs!

I had right side mastectomy with no recon 4 days ago. I am amazed at how good I feel. i think not using the narcotics was key for me, as they do a number on me. My energy level is pretty good, mostly bored staying at home. I feel like I could even go to work if I had to. I have a part time desk job. Everyone is different, but they told me 2-3 weeks and I think that is a good estimate.
    Best wishes to you!

I had a UMX no reconstruction last year. I took two weeks off of work and once the drain was out (about 8 days post surgery) I was much more comfortable and able to drive. I was so bored that I went into the office for a couple of hours on days 10 and 11. I was back at work full time after the two weeks. Wishing you an easy recovery.
