AFLAC Cancer Insurance
Hi everyone... I was just diagnosed with DCIS intermediate to high grade. My mom and 4 of my aunts are breast cancer survivors. This is one reason have the Aflac cancer policy. I felt it was inevitable for me with my family history. Anyway, I sent my pathology report to my agent and she said she's didn't know if it would pay out because it's "negative for definite invasive malignancy". Just wondering if anyone has any similar experience? Thanks

Can you pull your policy to see if DCIS is covered. Hopefully it will be. It has been a great payoff for me. Do you require chemo for your diagnosis

The policy says it will cover "internal carcinoma in situ" with a Positive Medical Diagnosis, so since I have a positive medical diagnosis of DCIS, I am praying it covers it. It would be a great help. Not sure about chemo, I don't see the surgeon until next week.

I bet it will! They have been very easy to work with. Since the policy says in Situ...it should. Especially if you end up with chemo(hopefully not) but they pay for a treatment foronceva week. So I was on taxotere, Herceptin and Perjeta which was every 3 weeks. Taxol is weekly.. and it would have paid 4 times a month. Too bad I wasn't on that! We do all of mine on line with automatic deposit within 24 hours! Don't want you to have cancer, but glad you have Aflac.

DCIS is a pre-invasive condition - which likely is why the insurance agent made the comment she did. But if the policy covers in-situ as well as invasive malignancies, then there should be no problem.
Chemo is never given for Stage 0 DCIS.
However if you had not yet had your surgery and your diagnosis is based on a needle biopsy, there is a chance that the final diagnosis could change, should some invasive cancer be found. This happens only in about 20% of cases where the prelininary diagnosis is DCIS, so hopefully your final diagnosis remains DCIS.

Hi Lucsmom, You may find these pages helpful to understand what to expect in terms of treatment with DCIS. DCIS Treatment.
We're all here for you, and like the others said, it is likely that it is covered. Fingers are crossed for you!

Thanks so much for the quick replies. I am very thankful I found this forum. So much helpful information.

My supplemental insurance policy had different payouts for in situ and invasive. $5k vs. $20k. I asked repeatedly for a copy of the actual policy and have never received it so I don't know exactly how it reads. It's not AFLAC, it's Liberty.

Just found out my policy is gonna cover the DCIS! Huge load off my shoulders. Thanks again😃

Great news. I'm so glad it is covered. I'm so thankful for my Aflac. As you can see, I had mets, so I have really used it. If you have more than the cancer policy, be sure to look at them because I get money for some tests under my other policies.

Hello, all
I paid That Aflac Policy for 16 years and on Dec 5th this year I was thinking the good lord that I did , I contacted my agent and he took it from that point. I fax everything to him and its paid very quickly I have a very old policy so grandfather in on many aspects..

Aflac is amazing. I had it when I was originally diagnosed with Stage IIIB and it paid for a lot. Right off the bat they pay you $5K for initial diagnosis. They also pay for chemo, scans, radiation, biopsies, oral chemo pills, anti nausea pills etc. Yhey also pay towards your annual nam organs and Pap smears. They are really fast on their payments as well. Lord knows they have paid out way way more than what I have paid them. Interestingly they have not raised my annual rate even though they have paid me well over $200,000. I strongly urge all of my friends, both male and female to buy their cancer policy. Best money I have ever spent.

Hello Everyone,
I also have Aflac, I have had it since 2007. When I was diagnosed I called my agent and was told to submit everything myself, it was a hardship scanning, uploading, when you feel bad. My agent had been paid for 10years and I really would have appreciated a little more customer service. And if they denied something I spent lots of time pleading my case, the three times I was denied, I appealed and the claim was paid but it would have certainly been nice to have an agent helping me.
I am getting ready to submit a claim a claim for Femara (letrozole) and wonder if anyone has received any payment from Aflac for Femara or any aromatase inhibitor? I am on it for 5 years to decrease the risk orf recurrence and to reduce the risk of cancer spreading to other parts of my body. I was node negative but as my oncologist said these cells are less than 1 millionth of an inch.
I think Aflac should cover the medication. Please let me know if anyone has ever submitted a claim and what the result was. Thanks for your help in advance.
