help with reconstruction timeline

hi ladies.  i had bilateral masterctomy aug 22 2016 with expanders placed. but they both got infected and were removed 2 months after mid chemo.  i have three more cycles of chemo and radiation to my left chest.  all treatment will finish mid feb 2017.  per my surgeon, the they will put another expander on my right side but left needs tissue from back as i am getting radiation and do not have much skin left.  i want the process to finish fast as i have a two year old who screams everytime he seems my body or touches me (he was breastfed).  what is a reasonable timeline for reconstruction.

my idea was to put the expander on right non radiated side right after chemo and do expansion while doing rads to left side and waiting for it to heal and 3 mo after radiation do the exchange on right and get expanders on left.

i have not discussed this fully with my PS but he told me i will be ready on left side in one year.  why?  i just cant wait that long for sake of my son who is traumatized (i cover all the time, both my breast and hair since he is now so sensitive to changes in mommy)
