Thin Slices of Joy

Jazzy - Nice hair story. I had very long hair before chemo. I keep it short now because the top grows slower than the rest, and it looks like a mullet. Still dark with some grey.
oldladyblue - Yay to hair!
Minus - I loved that Andra Day performed at the KCH for Berry Gordy. Gordy discovered Stevie Wonder who later discovered Andra Day (name from “Lady Day", my all time favourite singer).
This beautiful video was made last year. Unfortunately it's still relevant.
-
Jazzy - Love your hair and that rocking new do! I went through the process of letting mine go "silver" in 2016.
-
Slice of joy - Xmas at the hot springs
-
-
Somewhere I saw an add for a chocolate bear that you immersed in hot milk (water?) to make hot chocolate. Inside the bear were marshmallows that floated out as he melted.
Slice of joy tonight was broiled 2 lobster tails. Delicious & soooo easy to make.
-
Love lobster!
We have some hot chocolate bombs that are just spherical. They’re delicious.
Tonight my husband decapitated the chocolate bears and filled them with Baileys and cream. That was dessert.
-
My older daughter brought this guy home for us. Never heard of a Nisse before.
“In Scandinavia, Pixies or Nisse is a household spirit that is responsible for the care and prosperity of a farm or family. A Nisse is usually described as a short man or woman (under four feet tall) wearing a red cap.“
-
Thanks for making me smile!
Yes, hair... hair is good.
Decapitated bears with Bailey's and whip cream. Lovely!
Oh and a hot spring would be divine.
I'm only 5' tall, if I wear a red hat would I be a Nisse?
-
Slice of joy - the sun came out today and I discovered a new fav pool
-
Jazzy - That pool looks incredible!
oldladyblue - You’re taller than me! But I don’t think we can qualify as a Nisse without the full beard.
Here’s a vocal powerhouse in a small frame. Cynthia Erivo is so talented.
-
Serenity - you know some of the most amazing voices. Thanks for sharing Erivo. I have tears in my eyes this day after Christmas.
-
Cynthia is one of my favorite actresses. I love her voice too. Very talented
-
Minus - She does bring out tears. The first time I heard her was a video of the Broadway cast of The Color Purple singing Purple Rain after Prince died. Her voice stood out.
Jazzy - I love watching anything with her.
Had to find it again.
-
New version of Stand By Me!
-
Nice Serenity!!
-
My daughter took me out to dinner last night, since my blood tests are all good now. The restaurant had several tables of senior citizens singing karaoke, I guess they do it every Wednesday. I had such fun watching them sing some of my favorite songs.
-
It’s that time! Love all these dogs.
-
This is from the film Gladiator and it is so beautiful. My yoga instructor used it at the end of some classes and it still resonates peace and love.
-
-
My daughter lives near lots of cute pastry shops.
This coffee bean shaped cookie is huge and delicious.
-
Betrayal - that's beautiful ❤️
-
A life well lived. Here’s a snippet.

Betty ❤️❤️❤️🙏😔

Happy New Year!
-
Happy New Years friends. Thanks for all the posts & "slices of joy" this year.
My joy for NY Day will be broiled lobster tails with drawn butter. Yum.
-
Minus - Lobster is delicious!
Love this song. Great new version.
-
I woke up with this ear worm. U2 is the band of my youth.
-
I get no joy from learning of more racism. Apparently a news anchor who talked about having dumplings on NYE was too much for one of their viewers. She called to complain that the news anchor was #veryasian and needed to keep her Korean to herself.
I normally make no resolutions. But I'll make an exception this year. I will learn to make dumplings. We usually buy them, but we can't today. As part of the QC curfew, all non-essential businesses are closed on Sunday. Otherwise my husband would go pick some up today from the Asian food store.
Is it that hard to accept people eat different foods? I don't like all foods, but I don't feel the need to broadcast it.
-
Oh no Serenity. That's terrible. I normally associate dumplings with "chicken &" and the South, and I don't eat them. But I love Asian dumplings.
I like your resolution. I'll work on figuring out the magic recipe for the Korean sweet & sour/chili sauce like that served at Eddie V's on roasted Brussels sprouts.
