Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for the DC Area?

Haven't seen anyone closer to me than the woman at UPenn...any suggestions for Richmond, VA or Washington DC area?

The king of 3D tattoos is Vinnie Myers in Finksburg, MD - near Baltimore. He has a very skilled staff as well. Here is a link:

    Thanks SpecialK

I know everyone raves about Vinnie...but am hoping to find someone associated with a Medical College/Hospital like the UPenn woman as my insurance will pay for a "tattoo artist" who is imbedded in a medical facility

Was hoping there might be recommendations for GW Hospital, Johns Hopkins or VCU???

I think finding 3D tattoo artists connected to medical facilities are few and far between. I believe many of the tattoos done through plastic surgeons, or cancer centers, are not 3D and don't use regular tattoo ink - and can require more frequent touch up. Might be best to call those facilities and ask who their tattoo folks are.

Agree, while my PS is eager to do the tattoo, part of why he is eager is he doesn't do many! So limited color choices and not as well done. I am also not eager to have nipple reconstruction (again PS more than happy to do that as well), more surgery, another scar, uncertain outcome... So while I always thought, in my previous life, that I would never get a tattoo...I am now heading in the tattoo direction!

I just had my remaining nip removed last week, and will also opt for 3D tattoo if I am allowed. I need to wait to determine if my skin is too thin due to repeated surgery on the left, but I am not interested in nipple recon for the same reasons you state. I am hopeful that as more 3D artists connect with cancer centers that insurance will cover - I think when Vinnie works in NOLA at least some insurers do. If you find a situation locally that works please post so others will know too!
