How long did you see your MO after treatment?

I'm curious how long you've continued to see your MO after completing treatment. I'm feeling conflicted about my future and am hoping you can help shed some light on what happens when treatment ends.

I was dx'd with ER+ (50%) IDC 5 years ago, had lx, chemo (high Oncotype score of 42) and rads, tried Tamoxifen and Aromasin and gave them up after 8 months. Saw my MO every three months for the first two years, then every six months for two years, then at 4 years I was passed off to his PA to begin "survivorship" visits (once a year, no exams or bloodwork, but discussion about "moving on after cancer"). During that first visit the PA declared me "cured".

Two months later I was diagnosed with a recurrence, this time TNBC (so much for "cured").

I've done chemo again, had a UMX and DIEP recon, and 10 months later my MO has declared me "cured", has told me I should have my port removed, and has passed me off to his PA to once again begin survivorship visits. I'm feeling a flood of emotions about this, but maybe I'm being unreasonable. I'm no longer doing any kind of treatment so I don't really need to see him. Even with a recurrence my MO continues to tell me I'm at no higher risk of metastatic recurrence than if I hadn't had this second dx. I understand there's nothing he can do to prevent recurrence. Maybe I just need to let it go?

How long did you continue to visit with your oncologist and/or their assistants after the end of treatment?
