Recurrence rates for ER-/PR- DCIS with microinvasion????
Does anyone have any information on recurrence rates for ER-/PR- DCIS with microinvasion? I do not know my HER status as it was not tested on the DCIS and was too small to test on my microinvasion. My DCIS was 2cm and I had 1 focus microinvasion that was less than 1mm. I was treated with a mastectomy and nothing further. I was trying to read up on recurrence rates but did not find much for Timic tumours. I found some things on triple negative, but I do not even know my HER status. Any studies or calculators that are useful for this information? Should I post this question on this topic or on stage I- not even sure about that!

If you had good surgical margins after your MX, then your risk of a localized recurrence (i.e. in the breast area) will be in the range of 1% - 2%. That is pretty consistent for anyone who's had MX, regardless of the diagnosis and pathology. Basically, most of the breast tissue has been removed, but a tiny bit always remains, and within that tiny bit of breast tissue, there is a small risk that a few cancer cells might still be lurking. And that's what makes up the 1% - 2% risk.
Because you had the microinvasion, your diagnosis is Stage I (invasive cancer) and not Stage 0 (pure DCIS) and with that difference comes a very small risk of mets. Here again, the risk is very tiny. I had an ER+/PR- microinvasion (HER2 status not tested), and was told that my risk of mets was about 1%. I would expect that your risk would be in the same range. Like you, my treatment was an MX and nothing more, and so far, after 11 years, I'm fine.
Here is one calculator you can use: http://www.lifemath.net/cancer/breastcancer/outcom... I'd suggest that where it says "display as", you click for a Pictogram. I find that's the chart that's the clearest and easiest to interpret.

Thank you! My margins were 1.2cm and .7mm. I could not not find anything on er/pr - microinvasion and feared my risk of distant recurrence was much higher. I will go to the calculator and plug in my information. Thank you again- with the 11 pounds I lost between diagnosis and surgery i started to worry it had already spread and could find no stastisticd on it
