Anyone have circulating tumor count done?

This test suggest in can be used for metastases breast cancer. Does anyone know if it can be used for early statge breast cancer?

Yes it can be used at any time, its a useful reference tool to see how your body is copy with circulating cáncer cells which everyone who has ever had cáncer has.........I have done 3 of these, my last one showed a substantial increase above what is seen as the safe limit so I am now on a supplement and natural treatment approach regime and will re-test early next year......since being on this regime my body temperature has increased and blood tests show increased White cells.......which I see as good news but won´t know for sure til next blood test

Hi everyone. I was told by my doc at a major NYC university based teaching hospital that this blood test is inaccurate in early stage breast cancer and will not do it. In fact I don't have any screening for metastasis except physical examination of breast and axillary. Good luck to all...

My doctor wouldn't do it either; see dtad's post. My doc's reasoning as well....

But I had an Naturopathic Oncologist who did it, and CTCS were okay, post-treatment. That was back in 2013.

How do you get a circulating tumor test done? Is there any way to find out if the cancer spread outside of checking the lymph node? I only had my sentinal node out and it was clear but concerned about the others? My tumors were grade 2.

I had this checked at the end of my chemo treatments in 2013. No CTC's detectable at that time - i had residual disease after chemo in nodes and breast.
