Not sure how to take this comment

Hello, ladies. I'm a long time bc.org poster, but I've never posted over in this section of the boards before.

A family friend said something to/about me in regards to prayer, and I'm not sure how to take it.

I have been dealing with my bc since 2007. My mom died of bc in 2008. After a local recurrence and mx/reconstruction in 2015, I have been in constant, severe discomfort from 24/7, unrelenting "iron bra/iron corset". My days have been consumed with trying to find a solution. I'm making progress, but it is slooooooowwwwww.

This email came from a family I've known for 32 years, on the heels of one of her daughters coming in from out-of-state to help me post-reconstruction revision last week (second time the daughter has come to help. This past post-op visit I could tell she was getting irritated with me, over nothing really). Is this woman (the mother) trying to say she is praying really, really hard? Because it came across to me like she is getting tired of praying with no results. Sort of like an insult that is accompanied by "bless her heart" to cover it up. I may be oversensitive with this family due to recent comments the daughter has made, so I wanted to get neutral opinions.

"Hi--

I had sent my mom an update when I got back from seeing you, and here's what she had to say--

'I've been lighting candles all over! Surely God will "fix her up" as I'm sure He's getting sick and tired of hearing from ME!' "

I'm just really not sure how to take this......thanks in advance!

I think the comment was just an awkward way to say she was praying a lot for you - or wanted you to think that. The comment wasn't meant for you to read but because it was showing her concern the daughter thought it would be nice for you to know. I don't read it as nasty at all.

I didn't take it as being an insult either.. just a 'I"m praying so hard God must be sick of me." it seemed cute actually. On a side note, NASH, do you still have reconstruction? A ton of my pain subsided when I went flat and got the damn things out of there. I still did PT with those cancer specialists. I'm 100% now.

Thx ladies. I really appreciate the neutral viewpoint. I suspected I was projecting some other issues onto it.

Lisey, I can't undo my reconstruction bc it was a flap surgery. Wish I could--believe me I asked! I'm so glad you are feeling 100%!!!
