Receding hairline and arimidex

Hey ladies, I'm 35 years old and have been on arimidex and zoladex for nearly 9 months now. Before that I had finished TAC chemo. Within the last week, I've realised my hairline around my temples is very thin and receded. This has got to be the most disturbing thing for me yet, as shallow as it sounds. The rest of my hair is growing well if a little slow. Is this due to arimidex or just the lack of estrogen? Could chemo have damaged those hair follicles? Oddly my leg hair also is very sporadic and thin. Is there anything I can do? Will it get worst? Hate to think i have either-a life withno hair or no life.

Lottemarine, sorry to hear about your symptoms. Arimidex can cause hair thinning, but the issues you describe of receding hair at the temple and loss of leg hair are also symptoms of a condition called Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia. Google it, but there is not a ton of information out there because it is a relatively new condition (first identified in 1995) and to date, no effective cure has been found. I'm sorry if I am sounding alarmist and hope someone else will come long with reassuring comments.

I'm on Aromasin now (just a few months) and have had hair thinning, primarily in the front. My Oncologist gave me a prescription for Romaine Foam for Women. It was not covered by my insurance and the RX versus over the counter price was about the same (2 container pack for about $40 US) and was told it may take up to 3 months to see results. You just use it at the root of your hair like a mousse. I haven't noticed any thickening yet, but the hair loss seems to be steady/not as much. Maybe that will help you.
