Local Recurrence after 11 years and BMX
Hi! I am new here. I have been reading for a couple of weeks though. I was first dx'd at 37, now a local recurrence at 48. My Oncotype DX test came back with a high-risk score of 38. I will start chemo again next week - Cytoxin/Taxotere this time. I would love to hear from survivors who have also had a high score. I feel like mine is so much higher than others I read about... scared stage IV is in my future. I am thankful I caught this before it spread anywhere (according to the bone scan, PET scan, and MRI I had). There are two tiny lung nodules that they will look at again next week; however, I was told they are not too worried, that a lot of patients have these show up and turn out to be nothing. I took tamoxifen for 10 years! Thought it was working. Just need some encouragement...almost wish I didn't know the oncotype number, but know there is power in knowledge.

Beware of taxotere and permanent hair loss. Might want to cold cap or take a different drug.
Sorry to hear you have a recurrence. My oncodx was 34.

Thank you. I have read about the hair loss, but thought it was a very small percentage.

It is more than 6% permanent hair loss, there is a class action lawsuit.
They believe it is more like 10%, several ladies on this site were not warned of that side effect.
I think there are a couple threads about it.

My Oncotype with my recurrence came back at 40. So far, I am doing well, but my recurrence was last year. Time will tell, but hoping for the best. I am 46 now

Sorry you had to join us here and I'm sorry about your recurrence. My oncotype was 57, so I am labeled high risk for recurrence.

Hi all!
I am 46. I have tried to find information about how people are handling permanent hair loss from TCHP regimen, but I'm not having much luck. Anyone here care to talk about what they have experienced?
I had TCHP in 2015 and double mx with diep flap reconstruction after that. Herceptin until June 2016. My hair has not grown back much. Longest pieces are less than 5 inches. I also have very thin hair on the crown of my head, appears like male pattern baldness. I am so disheartened by this. I have tried biotin, and shampoos, and also bimatoprost drops, which seemed to help for awhile, but then I ran out. I'm aware of the laser caps, but can't find any reliable information on its effectiveness for this specific problem. Anyone know of better solutions?
Thanks in advance! -
Mel, There's a recent thread on that here: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/69/topics...
