I miss having an occasional spa/body massage. There is a masseuse in my community who is certified to work with oncology patients. At first, I thought that meant lymphodema but after more reading, it seems being careful and knowlegeable about not putting too much pressure on all the muscles.

I am 6 weeks post BMX.. do I need special treatment for a massage? Or can I go to any certified masseuse?

Thanks for your responses

Luna

P.S. Thank heavens for this community!

It would be a good idea to get a referral to a Lymph Edema Therapist for evaluation and education. Not just 'some' PT or OT that claims to "know everything about LE".

By the way - lymphedema is not limited to ones who have dealt with cancer. LE can be an issue after ANY surgery or traumatic injury. I have a friend who had non-invasive surgery on her knee - she deals with a lot of LE. I had a lower leg traumatic injury many years ago and was told that LE was a possibility - never happened. But I do deal with LE post UMX.
