I'm surprised to find myself in this position, but finding potentially a second cancer (biopsy on Monday) during Pinktober has helped me understand my former bosses' extreme aversion to Pinktober (as a fellow cancer survivor).

It honestly didn't bother me at all following my diagnosis and treatment last Spring/summer, and I expected to sail through it as oblivious to the sea of pink as I had every year.

Then I spent hours in the mammography/ultrasound waiting room in early Pinktober, waiting for call-back, after call-back, after call-back, clutching the pink beaded hot/cold pack "door prize" I was given for having a mammogram during Pinktober; drying my hands on hot pink paper towels; reading the pink-themed magazines in the waiting room; passing pink-themed informational booths on the way in and out of the cancer treatment center; flying in a pink-ribboned plane with pink ribboned stewardesses during the vacation intended, in part, as a reward for beating breast cancer - now just a small interlude before my next merry-go round.

I don't really need to be assaulted when I come to a breast cancer support site with requests for donations to help support women like me, pink (ok maroon) themes, and pink branded advertisements. How about giving an option to at least turn of the gimmee ads & an option to substitute skin that doesn't include some shade of pink, pretty please?
