I used to be an avid participant on this remarkable site. I had the chemo therapy and lived through it, of course with many long-lasting side effects, to this day...but I am still living over 11 years later!!

Nevertheless, last Spring, a friend of my daughter's was diagnosed with Triple Positive BC. She got several opinions and decided receive a clinical trial in Zion, Illinois at Cancer Treatment Center of America. She recently had follow-up scans and tests and the folks at CTC are telling her she is cancer-free!! Although her journey is far from over, I wanted to share a link about the treatment they used on her:

I hope this will be helpful to all of you who may need it.

God Bless.

This was a very small single arm trial at this single location, and enrolled only 32 patients. It is now closed and not accepting any more patients. This trial administered Herceptin and Perjeta, along with aromatase inhibitors, neoadjuvently and then patients had surgery. While I am happy for your daughter's friend, it would not necessarily be unusual or surprising to be NED after surgery, but the really useful info from this trial will be how many patients were able to achieve PCR or effective reduction in tumor size without chemotherapeutic agents. It has long been thought that monoclonal antibody targeted treatments are more effective when they accompany chemo drugs, and if this trial starts the look at using these targeted therapy without them, and shows effectiveness that would be excellent. Here is a link to the trial:
