Chemo Docs - Long Island

Please share who you used for chemo. I live on Long Island. I am not sure if I should go into the city to use Sloan, use a satellite Sloan office, or go to a local MO.

Does the MO make the difference or is it the institution behind the doctors that allows for better treatment?

I especially would like to hear from those who have had lobular cancer since it is different from ductal and those who were diagnosed in a later stage. It went into my lymph nodes. I am not sure how many were affected yet.

I tend to have high blood pressure and am not into exercising much, although I do try to walk as much as I can. I tend not to eat when nervous.

Are you better off snacking when on chemo?

Any suggestions on getting through chemo?

Thank you.

I've livedon Long Island my entire life and I am thankful every day that I chose to go into Manhattan to Mount Sinai for my surgery and treatment. My close friend went through this exactly 2 years ago and her husband (a doctor) really pushed me to Look into Mt Sinai. I investigated and met with a Long Island surgeon and unsuccessfully attempted to meet with 2 MOs , neither of whom could see a new patient within a reasonable amount of time.
At Mount Sinai, all the care, all the appointments, all the treatment is coordinated. Everything is scheduled for you, like a one stop shop. Yes, it's a trip and treatment days are Loooooong, but every time I go to a local LI support group, I am reminded of how far behind LI is in terms of new protocols, treatments, etc. the quality of care at Mount Sinai is top rate.
