what happens on 6 month check up?

I have just finished all my treatment and had my 6 month after surgery check up today.  So all I got was a breast check and the Dr. I saw knew nothing about my condition, it was not the Surgeon I saw.  Can a breast check even diagnose ILC ?  I don't feel a bit confident after this.   Now I have my first mammogram end of January, and hopefully that will be more informative.  I feel I wasted my time with the 6 month check up today.

Not much was done 6 months post op except making sure there was no infection and healing was going well, inquiries on pain and range of motion. That was with my breast surgeon. The onco basically looked at me and discussed any concerns. I've never had labs done or any scans (bmx no recon) to date. I'm 9-1/2 years out. I only see an onco annually since we relocated and my surgeon is in another state. My suspicion is they would be happy to see us annually since it is a source of revenue. If there are surgical issues, that is another matter.
