Plans to begin Xeloda for failed chemo prior to my surgery. Just finishing up radiation. Any thoughts or words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.

Xeloda seems to work well for lots of BC patients and se's are not too bad. Not everyone gets hand and foot syndrome. It is manageable. Fatigue and diarrhea are common but no hair loss.

    Hi Kathleen,

I'm not on Xeloda, but asked for it from several oncs due to residual disease after chemo. I'm strongly ER+, so they didn't recommend it.

Just curious about your situation: are you hormone positive? And I'm assuming it was prescribed to you for residual cancer after chemo? Thanks! And I've also heard it was tolerated pretty well overall.

Just thought I'd throw this out there.....is anyone experiencing nagging, dry, itchy eyes on their chemo? I looked in the side effects info, and dry, itchy eyes are one of the more RARE side effects. My eyes have been really bad for the last few days. My eye dr gave me some gel drops the last time I saw him. They are more viscous and make everything look blurry for several minutes. I have to use them more than a couple times a day.

Another irritating SE to deal with,

    Lita

were you given steroids with your chemo? It's often one of the things you take alongside, just around the time of the infusions. That can affect your eyes. It goes away

No, they have not given me any steroids with this chemo. I've had the dry, itchy eyes for weeks now.
