For those in treatment on the east coast please take time to gather medical records and read the link above.

This is good advice. Superstorm Sandy hit us right about when my biopsy was originally scheduled, and the breast center where it was scheduled had no power for 3 weeks - had I needed information from them for anything, it would have been difficult to get.

Thank you Soccermom for posting this!

In addition, we have a great page called Ways to Prepare for a Natural Disaster that is helpful!

    Hope all will stay safe!

Have lived through many hurricanes (native Floridian) and blizzards - I'll take a hurricane any day over a blizzard. Not to forget fires.

With that said - I am always prepared for any severe weather or other major problems. few things that come to mind that are often not mentioned when it's past the time to be ready.

    1. 'They' tell you to have 3 days of drinking water - you also need to fill tub/buckets/pots/etc. with water to use to flush toilets. If power fails - water will fail.
    2. If you have small 4 legged family members - be sure they have a tag on them that has your name/contact info/Vet's name even if they are chipped. It takes a 'reader' for a chip but a tag - anyone can read.
    3. If you have horses - braid a 'dog tag' in their mane or tail for the same reason as for small ones. With horses, you can also use livestock spray paint on them with your number.
    4. If you have a 'jump box' in your truck/car, bring it in and be sure it is fully charged before you loose power. This will allow you to recharge your cell phone if you have a car charger as there is a place to plug the charger into.
