At 63, I was doing some heavy lifting (for me 35 lbs), and I thought I pulled a pectoral muscle. It was huge, like a tennis ball, above my scar, very close to the one I had when I was 56 and hard. I never knew that I could get BC again after a mastectomy and partial hysterectomy. I showed my GP the big lump, and she sent me to physical therapy for 4 months. The therapist finally told me that she would not work on me any longer, because it was so hard, and not reducing in size. I went back to my GP,, and she ordered a PET scan at the end of December 2015. I had to call her to get the results, and learned there was a "mass". That stupid doctor, with my medical history right in front of her on her PC, should have sent me immediately to my oncologist. I then went to my oncologist, and he took one look an said it was BC. It was not only big, but my chest had caved in under my arm and on my chest about 1/2 inches across. The left side was not affected. I asked him if he had ever seen this before and he said yes. He sent me for a PET and discovered it had gotten past the lymph nodes and invaded my lung and kidney. I was so angry at my GP, I wanted to sue her for the delay. I called my cousin, who is an attorney, and he said it has to be a "material change", in legal speak that means you lose the use of the arm, or the arm itself, or die. My oncologist said the BC tumor was in an area that was pressing on nerves, and because it spread, and I had 3 tumors, they would not do surgery. I it had been two tumors they would have removed them. He said we d have to watch it. My nurse said I have hit my limit for radiation. After 9 months of IV and 4 mos of radiation, the lump is smaller but it's sore and the lymph nodes on that side are swollen. At the end of August 2016, the tumor on my lung stopped responding to the IV treatments, so he put me on Xeloda. I take 4 - 500 mg pills in the morning with food and 4 at night with food.I have no hair, which my doctor said would not happen or not much. After 4 mos. on Xeloda I developed an ugly red rash on my forehead, and eyebrows. I checked for side effects and a rash is on the list, it itches and starts out bumpy, then flattens out, and it's all different, and irregular shapes. Now it's moving to my nose. The doctor called and said not to put anything on it, and he will see me this Thursday.
