I love my oncologist! I was supposed to see my surgeon who I also love last week for one year check up but she said she felt confident that her NP could see me. My first mammogram since the end of treatment was last month and was normal! I saw my oncologist in September and again in December. He is very thorough with his exam. I was anxious before the mammogram and maybe when I have to have another one in March but feel good and glad that my hair is growing back!!

I have given consideration to not going to appointments because of the anxiety, but knowing myself I'd have worse anxiety about not going.

I just saw BS this Monday and she is my favorite doctor. I know she has my back and if I'm worried about something she will send for a scan. Like this probable lipoma I have, she is going to send my for another u/s in December to re-check for changes. She also does a physical exam and checks allover my chest, shoulders, throat, arm pits...scar tissue.

I'm seeing MO at the end of the month, and this is the one that really causes me anxiety. Part of the stupid new normal I guess.

As a Stage IV patient, I have to go to the dr every 3 weeks. I also have to get a scan every 3 months. I'm totally used to it now and would never forego it.

Eventually I will die from this. So seeing the dr every 3 weeks to monitor my numerous mets is just one of the things I have to do from now on if I want to live for several more years (I HOPE) as opposed to several more months.

Nevertheless, I can understand the anxiety and concern of St I, II, and III women. It's perfectly human to worry about whether or not Mr. C has come back and/or spread. But the WORST has already happened to me. There's nothing left for me to stress about other than further progression, and that will indeed happen as my cancer continues to mutate and outsmart the current chemo regimen. I figure it is what it is. I'm on palliative care to slow down the progression so I HAVE to go to the dr all the time just to see if the Tx is working.

Prays for calmness and peace to all of you.

Thereseanne, I am 62 years old. I have not been to a doctor since January, 2009. Almost seven years.

I do any and every thing possible to promote my own health. Which I have already explained on this board, in multiple posts.

And I am in Excellent Health. I walk 4 miles/day. I feel great.

Alternative medicine is the only true medicine.

    Healing yourself.
