Hi.

I have a question. I know that there are different methods for reconstruction, but i have read of one that is done with the mastectomy. There is no extenders, just the silicone/saline put under the skin and no other surgeries unless you want nipples added. Did I read right? Has anyone had this? Whats the recovery time?

I think what you are describing is often referred to as "direct to implant" or "one step" reconstruction. There is a well known ps group specializing in this recon. I am posting a link to their web site with info about this type of recon. (I have no personal experience with this ps group or with one step. I have tissue reconstruction-DIEP and sGAP. The link is just to provide some general info.)

Hopefully someone with real experience will chime in here. If not, go to the FORCE web site and look up their "surgeon referral tool". It lists contact info for women who have had different types of reconstructions and are willing to talk to others about their experiences. Hopefully the link below will work..

I know this may be a bit late but this question can be answered by Dr. Lefkovits. While I have no experience with him personally, he seems like an expert on the subject and I'm providing a link to his website (I wasn't allowed to post a link but you can Google Dr. George Lefkovits) for reference purposes. I believe he offers free consultations in NYC.You can Google him
