goodrx.com website
Hi- I seached and could not find a post here about this. Last Spring I discovered the website goodrx.com, and I love it. You go to the website, and enter in what drug you are looking for pricing information on, and then you enter your zipcode, and it lists the prices for the pharmacies in your area, starting with the cheapest one. This is the price you would pay without your insurance. Often times the price listed is cheaper than whatever your deductible is. They also recently started tracking prices charged for people who have part D medicare. You tell them what part D plan you have, your zip code, and the name of the medicine you want to look up. It tells you whether your medicare plan is cheaper or not. Often it is not. Most of these cheap prices you have to get by either printing a coupon off of their site, or having them scan a goodrx card. My PCP has goodrx cards available right in front of her check in desk. Six days before I started chemo, I had the surgeon who did my lumpectomy, do a colonoscopy on me to remove a huge anal polyp that I had. When I got my discharge instructions, I got a script for a lidocaine ointment to use on my rectum. When I went to Sam's Club the nest day to get it filled, I was told it would cost me $234 under my Humana part D plan. I asked the pharmacist how much it would be if I paid for it myself, and he said $151. I said I would rather deal with the pain than pay that much. I got home and went on goodrx, and found I could get it for $39 at CVS by printing out their coupon. When I got to CVS though, the coupon would not work, and they told me it would cost me $141, which was still way too much money. The pharmacy then scanned a goodrx card that she had, and this brought the price down to $44, which was way better. The pharmacist happened to overhear us, and told me to follow her, and she showed me an over the counter lidocane cream, which was only $31. I ended up getting that.
This card can be used at all major pharmacies. I have used it at Walmart and Target. Last Spring I got a 90 day supply of the generic version of prozac at Target using a coupon for $6. Since I bought it though CVS took over all of Target's pharmacies, and all of their prices have gone up. The same prescription at Target would now cost me $25 to get it filled. It costs me $12 to get it filled at Sam's Club using my Humana part D plan. I know that there are some people here who will only deal with a few generic pharmacy companies, but I have taken generic lipitor and prozac for at least five years, and have taken whatever generic version I was given, and I have not suffered any side effects. Hope this helps, Nancy

Thanks, Nancy. I've used it for Tamoxifen.

You may also want to try http://affordrx.com, you can compare prices there, I notice about 1/2 the time they are a bit less expensive then goodrx. Both are great websites though.
