New tumor on Taxol

Hello!

I was diagnosed in May with stage 2 IDC (TNBC). My treatment plan was 4 dose dense AC infusions followed by 12 weekly Taxol infusions and then a double mastectomy in November with DIEP reconstruction.

After the second AC treatment my lump was completely gone and my doctor said I was having a "complete pathological response". Fast forward to last week, after my 7th Taxol dose, I felt a lump in the same breast on Sunday. On Monday I met with my surgical oncologist and she took a biopsy.

I found out yesterday that it is cancerous. Negative so far but awaiting the HER2 results. My doctors say there is a possibility it may not be triple negative. I have a couple of questions:

1. Has anyone ever heard of cancer growing back on Taxol?

3. Has anyone ever heard of cancer coming back not triple negative when it was previously triple negative?

All that to say, if I am triple negative they are moving my surgery up from November to next Thursday (EEK!!) and delaying reconstruction.

If it is HER2 positive they want to look at other chemo options.

If you have ANY info on any of this please let me know. I am baffled and haven't been able to find any helpful resources.

Thank you!!

I was diagnosed April 29, 2016 with TNBC. I was originally told they think it is breast but your mammogram is clear and so we don't know. They were going to start me on treatment but the PET scan came back w/ activity in lung. Next thing I know they are removing a pea-size tumor from lung and zapping a lesion from my brain. I was horrified. I tried to get into clinical trials and they keep rejecting me. I finally went on Taxol and after 3 cycles, we find out it only removed my hair nothing else and by the way there is now a cancer lesion in your liver new since we started the Taxol. I was devastated. I am new to cancer and I go from you're alright we caught it early at Stage 2, to it is now in your lung, brain and now liver during treatment. I did not know chemo doesn't always work. I started a new drug October 10th and I had scans yesterday. We are praying for positive news this Thanksgiving week. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
