When I spoke with my MO, he said that because my cancer, my sister's and my mom's (HR+PR+HER-, Triple Negative, and Triple Positive) were different, that it was unlikely to be due to genetics. Has anyone else heard this?

Well, that's an interesting suggestion. I'd have thought that such a strong family history pointed to a genetic cause despite those differences. Has any one been tested for BRCA?

I've been tested for everything and came up negative, and my sister was negative as well. I mean, I suppose that it could be three cases of bad luck...

Have you talked to a genetic counselor? Since you have been tested I assume you have. That would be a good question for them. I don't think what the MO said to you is true. Genetics is complicated. Just because they haven't found a gene responsible for it doesn't mean there isn't one at play. I've heard of people being diagnosed with BC more than once with TNC only one of the times.
