IXEMPRA, HOW DID YOU GET THROUGH IT?

D was started on Ixempra 2 weeks ago. It's been extremely difficult. She wants to stay on it, because we have to get rid of the extensive liver mets, progressive bone mets and now Brain mets.

Gas has been her major problem. Much pain from Gas, and that keeps her from eating. Or when she does eat she ends up throwing up. In turn it makes her very weak. And she missed her 2nd dosage, she had to get IV Fluids, and than thanks the Lord, the next day with more Fluids IV again, she was ok to get the infusion. I am really worried that they will stop it if she does not get better soon, she lost weight which she really can not afford, and we are still hoping that they would add Xeloda in 2 weeks. To give this monster a good punch.

She is taking Charcoal, Gas X, Zofran... did anyone here hear of Marinol? Is it any better? WHAT else? Ginger ale? What else?

She is on Ixempra every week , Herceptin every 3 wks and Xgeva every 4.

I was looking for Ixempra threads, and there was one but dated a few years back. Interesting that we don't see much of it here. Why would that be?

She was on Navelbine for a few rounds, but there was much progression when PET/CT was done to check on status.

Some of you may know us from Bone Mets thread, or Liver Mets. She has been on pretty much the whole gamut.

ER+PR+HER2+

Hope to hear from you soon.

I wrote on the other thread to answer your question. And there is extensive advice on how to get through this horrid chemo from hell.

It worked for me. NED for 4 years now. Was worth the agony. And it was agony.

(((())))) HUGS for you and your daughter.

Hey scuttlers, I did see your post, it was long ago, I was not sure where you were at now. So nice to hear that. Aside from the HELL part, I just keep praying they won't take her off it, (bcs they will feel responsible). She really needs something strong, I've believed for awhile, but they kept saying this business of QOL,(Aghhh), and were hesitant in giving her Chemo. She has been doing everything, taking care of the children, cooking shopping, and we want it to continue.

Thanks for responding, but why so few are on this tx?

Where were your Mets? And if I could ask, how long till you saw a nice response? Thank you sweetie, going over there now, I'll check in later.
