Size of tumor before and after surgery

I was told I had an 8mm tumor by ultrasound and biopsy found IDC. Had mastectomy and post surgical pathology again says 8mm and in the paragraph the pathologist says no discrete tumor was found. So does that mean the biopsy got it all or just that what was left was probably just cells? The official size was staged less than 1cm
