recovery time from anesthesia

I'm having a small lump removed from my upper chest next week. My surgeon said the actual procedure will take less than 30 minutes so I'll only be under anesthesia for a short time. I'm wondering how long it will take for the anesthesia loopiness to wear off? The surgery is in the morning and my husband will take me and bring me home but he has to be gone in the evening. I'm assuming I should be fine left at home by myself that evening since it's a very small procedure and the time under anesthesia is short? I will have my 13 year old and 9 year old at home with me--but the 13 year old will feed and keep an eye on the 9 year old.

I was pretty much fine by the time they let me go home from the hospital. My husband was there to help me, but I could have helped myself except for fixing dinner. I was just really really tired when I got home and it was nice to be able to sit down and relax. However, if I had children the ages of your children I would expect them to be able to at least fix themselves (and me!) a sandwich or a bowl of cereal or a microwave dinner, and keep themselves occupied for the rest of the evening without needing toooo much supervision. You can do this.

LIke mustlovepoodles, I was basically fine by the time I left the surgical center for both my lumpectomy and my re-excision.

You'll need your rest but it sounds like you have a good plan in place!

mustlovepoodles and luna52, thank you for putting my mind at ease. It's good to know that what I was thinking for recovery will probably be accurate!

Just wanted to update, I had the surgery early Thursday morning and was fine to stay alone with my kids that evening. I was just tired and sore, so we spent the evening watching movies and eating a frozen dinner :) Thanks for responding mustlovepoodles and luna! You guys were spot on :)
