I first started reading and writing here a little more than a year ago when I had discharge from my right nipple. A biopsy was done and I got the all clear. Today I went for my annual mammogram and ultra-sound and had just been told by the doctor that he's seeing new calcification and so I have to be back on Wednesday for another biopsy. Has anyone every experienced this situation before?

I am terrified but a bit calmer this time (if that's even possible) & I don't know why as the doctor seemed a tad more concerned than the first time (although I hope it's just my imagination).

Happy to hear from anyone. Thanks

    Hi EIJ,

Perhaps I can give you some perspective that may help. The reason have yearly mammos and U/S is to watch for changes. Many changes happen to our breasts, especially as we age, and most of them have nothing to do with cancer. But it's important to check them out, just in case. Because the goal is, that if it is cancer, it's caught very early.

Most women, if they are faithful about getting annual mammos, will eventually end up having some biopsies done. Not because the doctors think we have cancer, but because changes were noticed.

So try to remain calm. (Hard, we know). Your doctor is being thorough, which is exactly what you want.

    Hang in there.

    Dear Marie,

Thank you for your comments and advice 😊 The waiting is really hard and I can't help but think - can I be lucky twice? The biopsy results came back as benign last year.... But am trying hard to stay positive although I must admit to breaking down in private a few times.
