nipple biopsy before mx

Hello - I want to do a nipple & skin sparing mx, and my surgeon said she thinks it's possible but wants to be 100 percent sure that there is no cancer near the nipple. (MRI was clear there, but there can be microscopic bad cells) So, she will be doing a biopsy first to check. Tells me this is an outpatient procedure, pathology takes 2 weeks, then we can do the major surgery.

Has anyone had this done? What to expect?
