Did anyone do neoadjuvant AND adjuvant chemo?

Hi,

I received neoadjuvant TCHP (6 cycles) and my MO is now proposing either 4 cycles of AC or FEC as adjuvant chemo. If we go the AC route, she will hold the Herceptin for that time and add it back in at the end (along with radiation at that point,) so that I end up with a full year of Herceptin therapy eventually. I guess potentially I could keep getting Herceptin on the 3-weekly schedule if I were to go on FEC, but the FEC regimen is thought by my MO to perhaps be not as effective in this situation as AC(?) I was ER-, PR-, HER2+++ at the time of the core needle biopsy, but the IHC and FISH on residual disease in one node is now triple negative

Just wondering if anyone is or has been in my same boat?

Yes. I did 4 cycles of Taxotere/Perjera/Herceptin, had my bi lateral mastectomy and then did 3 cycles of Cytoxin/Epirubicen/5FU. Three weeks after my last one, I started back on Herceptin to finish out my year, along with 30 rounds of radiation.

I did not have it that way, but there are quite a few women out there who did!  They will be chiming in soon!

That's interesting that the residual disease is triple Neg. Seems Herceptin did its job

I think this is how they are tailoring treatment - by providing additional treatment if you did not achieve PCR which is great.

I think you will see more women being offered adjuvant treatment.

Just a thought or something to discuss with your MOI believe you can have FEC concurrently with Herceptin. I've seen it in clinical trials and it has been shown to be more effective but yes there is more of a risk of cardio toxicity
