Anyone have ILC from taking hormone replacement therapy?

Stupid decision to avoid aging gave me ILC. Haven't even had an MRI, or been staged, so I don't know how bad it is. I'm just wondering if anyone is similar and if the hormone therapy is different if the excess estrogen was from an outside source

Licata, I have read that theory also, although it is a common belief in all hormonal based types ofbreast cancers.

I was DX.ed with ALH 7 yrs ago and had never used any hormones, no HRT, no previous birth- control pills, hormonal based IUD's nothing.

I was actually always low on estrogen, so much so that prior to the published results of the WHI, and the belief that HRT caused breast cancer, my GYN suggested that I try a small dose of estrogen. I was in my late 30's then. Tried it for one week and it made me hyper...PremPro was used back then.....tossed it in the trash....and carried on fine without it.

I took bio-identical hormones about 10 years. Also ate large amounts of soy, as I don't love meat. My Dr's believe hormone use was my highest risk factor

Hi everyone. I took HRT for 5 years prior to my diagnosis. When I asked my doc if that caused it he said probably not and that most of his patients did not take HRT. However it certainly didn't help

We certainly cannot put this to trial, but there is ample statistical and retrospective analysis which confirms that women who took HRT have an increased risk of ILC. One would have to look at a very large sample of women with ILC to see the correlation. Your doctor simply does not see enough of us with ILC to identify the pattern. He would also need to see a lot of post menopausal women with ILC which would further reduce the sample size. Large sample research studies consistently identify this association.

Tannyh...Agreed! However my breast surgeon has been in practice for almost 30 years at a major NYC university teaching hospital. He has seen it all. Understand its anecdotal, not scientific. Good luck to all.

Licata519, why did you delete your original post? It's hard to know what's being talked about now.

Yorkiemom, I had just received my diagnosis, with 90% ER, and 98% PR positive. I was still on HRT , and immediately discontinued use, but was and still am positive this is the major factor in my cancer. When no one replied after a couple days, I felt silly, and tried to delete the whole thing. I was surprised it was still a topic. So that's what happened.

Licata...I was speaking of what my doctor said as being anecdotal.
