Hello there. When I was diagnosed in 2012 I would come to this site and read but never got involved. I think I was in a cancer haze and shuffled along and took my treatments just hoping 'it" would be gone and done. My mom died of BC so I knew the reality but trusted in the treatments.

Fast forward to a current diagnosis of DCIS in the same breast. I'll be having a bilateral mastectomy in Sept and was hoping for reconstruction, as the breast surgeons and oncologist have been telling me how great immediate reconstruction can be. Eeek then I went to the plastic surgeon. Since one of my breasts has been radiated he says the complication rate and risk of necrosis is high. Very high according to him and his multiple necrosis pictures. I am working on getting a consult with another plastic surgeon.

Have any of you with previous radiation had a successful reconstruction? PS is recommending LD flap if I want immediate reconstruction with TE. Or wants me to heal 2 months after mastectomy and then go back for reconstruction.
