Lump in armpit 3 years after dbl masc.
I had ILC (diag in 2013) did the double mascetomy and radiation then several reconstruction surgeries the almost last one this past November. About 4 to six months ago I felt a bb in my right armpit. The side where the cancer was the worst. Over the last two months a lump formed a bump. Hard to explain how it looks. I went to PcP today and they ordered an ultrasound. I only have Mondays off so have to wait. Has anyone had their cancer return and it formed in the armpit even after a dbl masc and radiation? What did it look and feel like?

it's been 3 years for me too since surgery and I found a lump under my arm pit too. At first I thought it was an ingrown hair but it's been there way to long and doesn't hurt. Waiting for next appointment to have it checked. Like you said hard to describe. Keep me posted... Hugs..

When I have lumps, my Oncologist has them assessed with ultrasound. It's inexpensive, and let's them know if a biopsy is needed.
My ALND left me with many small scars. My worst in the armpit is because a PA tore out a sutured in drain, and a hunk of skin with. It left almost an inch sized lump ... Thanks Plastics (not). The least they can give me is peace of mind

Have you had your appointment yet? Monday seems like a year away to me
I am terrified of chemo. Cancer not biggy, chemo that's another story. Besides being bald, eyebrowless, eyelashless, and nail less the idea of being sick all the time while I still have to work. Uuugghhh -
Hi, InTheWind. When a person with Lobular cancer has a recurrence, there's chemo choices which aren't as harsh as the Taxols.
Wish I could have targeted Lobular cancer treatment without waiting for a recurrence. Other forum members have more experience than I as to these newerChemo's and side effects.

Dear InTheWind,
I too had a lump in my right axilla after a BMX (but no further treatment). My surgeon wasn't concerned and said, there would only be a 2% chance after BMX that I could have BC again. So we watched the lump for a year. He was convinced it was just a lymph node reacting to my reconstruction (silicone, mesh) which made sense to me. Finally he had to repair a hernia in my belly so he took a sample under the arm while I was out. It was ILC and had been there all along...30ish lymph nodes were positive by that point. Unless your dr. is super confident that US can tell him/her what they need to know, see if they think a bx is reasonable. That being said, it would seem very surprising in your case after rads under that very arm. The key with my lump is that I watched it and it grew, very very slow, but it did grow and then a felt another node behind it becoming larger. Let us know how you are doing! Blessings in your journey
