My paternal grandfather was diagnosed with malebreast cancer. because of this, my ob gyn suggested to get the Brca test done. My results came back positive last week. I have an appointment for pelvic ultrasound and to also discuss the results and further steps next Thursday.

I am a little shocked and frazzled by all the things I'm reading online. I know I should stay off the internet and just wait to talk to my doctor but I can't help it.

In addition to the health concerns I have, I have also some financial concerns. I've been meaning to get life insurance ever since my son was born 2 years ago but kept putting it off. Now I'm not sure if I CAN get life insurance with a positive Brca test? I've done a lot of research but couldn't find anything concrete. Does anybody have experience with this? Also wondering about disability insurance. I know there are laws in place for health insurance and employment but not concerning life insurance. Will a life insurance company actually ask applicants to undergo DNA testing and or ask to disclose results? What would be the consequences if you do not disclose truthful? Can life insurance companies access these records? (I did not do the test privately but through my health insurance)

Thank you! I'd appreciate any Input and advice as I am really worried sick over this!

i was advised by my genetic counselor to get life insurance before my genetic testing. I am surprised this was not recommended to you. Hoping someone else comes along with some good advice for you. Hugs.

If you don't disclose information asked on an application your policy will be rescinded when the information comes to light. They refund unearned premium and don't pay out the benefit. If you got sick (disability) or die during the contestibilty period (life) they will order your medical records and find out
