Lobular Breast Cancer and Connective Tissue Disorders

I discussed in a thread here about whether there's a connection between connective tissue and collegan disorders and Lobular Breast cancer. A few others shared they had issues too.

I'm asking if others here have similar problems. Early arthritis has been the bane of my existence, causing me chronic pain and back and joint surgeries since my 30's.

My PCP referred me to a Rheumatologist because of multiple joint replacements (hips), and high ANA levels along with Lupus markers. After loads of testing, it appears I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome, along with Sjogrens or another connective tissue problem.

It explains the early arthritis, but I'm wondering where it fits with cancer. Since Lobular cancer is caused by a loss of e-cadherin, or cellular "glue" in simple terms, it makes sense that having crap collegan may play a role. Anyone else have similar problems?

And John, have you heard anything?

    Leslie13,

I have sjogren's syndrome and my family (which is also the cancer side of the family) has a history of various autoimmune diseases. I also have a second cousin that had lobular carcinoma and has Hashimoto's thyroiditis. So, perhaps there is a connection. There definitely is something with AI disease and estrogen. My AI symptoms got crazy about a year before I was diagnosed.

I have NOT been diagnosed with breast cancer at this point and am still in the diagnostic phase, however, I check this ILC forum periodically because tbh, based on what I have going on with my breast and everything I've read, ILC is my concern. My BS and I will be discussing excisional biopsy at my next appt later next month. That being said, I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I don't know of any correlation between that and ILC however I know that EDS has a million and one comorbidities that on the surface level seem odd and don't make a lot of sense but that are very real and interesting when you look deeper. Having crap collagen can effect how pretty much every body system works. I have also considered getting testing for Sjogren's because I deal with eye, mouth, and vaginal dryness. I've just been avoiding more doctor visits and tests. There seems to be a connection between EDS and autoimmune issues as well, which I have, so nothing would surprise me. I believe autoimmune issues positively correlate with cancer risk as well.
