Saw my oncotype results today....
It was a 33. My MO feels that chemo is warranted anyway because of my age. I will be doing adriamycin an cytoxan for 4 rounds, then 12 weeks of Taxol. Wish me luck, I start on September 2nd. I hope all of you are doing well.

Wish you the best. I hope it works on ilc. Have you asked about lupron (sp). If you can get to aromatose anhibitor drugs as soon as possible. It has proven to be effective for your er pr + ilc.

Good luck, Michelle. I know that was probably something of a blow, even though you were probably slated for chemo anyway. I'll be thinking of you as you get your life organized for your next stage of treatment and try to wrap your mind around this. I hope that you've got a terrific support system in place - I can't imagine how busy your household must be with 4 boys! Gentle hugs to you.

Thank you Hopeful8201.....As they say "It is what it is" I as well as the rest of us will power thru chemo, hopefully with few SE.
love and hugs

Michelle, I wish you a gentle bout of chemo. I had the same treatment. The docs were all kinda awed by the adriamycin, the red devil, but I did not have too bad a time on it. With my onc's blessing I took a lot of probiotics (mostly just acidophilus capsules) and it seemed to help both with intestinal issues and thrush. I also found it helpful to get out for a walk every day, even if it was a slow walk sometimes. Lastly, make sure they cover you for nausea. Some docs give you pills and tell you take them as needed. This is a mistake, in my humble opinion. I got emend during the infusion and for 2 days after, plus 2 other anti-puke pills, on a schedule. The idea was to prevent me from getting nausea in the first place. It worked.

Michelle, we’re all "in your pocket" (as we say on another thread) for your first chemo session. From sisters here who have been on Adriamycin, as well as from the Elisa Port, MD breast cancer book, comes advice to suck on Popsicles during those infusions--the colder your oral mucosa the less damage the drug will do to those cells (sort of like cold capping for your mouth), and the lower the chance of mouth sores.

some people do hands and feet as well.

Hi, that is the same chemo I am getting. I have had one round so far. First week a little hard but other 2 not so bad. Next treatment on the 30th. Lots of good help on here for preparation.
