Numb nipple after lumpectomy

Hi all, had a lumpectomy on my right breast last March. Now my nipple is numb and no feeling at all in it.. has anyone else experienced this? I was not prepared for this to happen and my surgeon did not mention this may happen. I know some will say this is a small price to pay but I am really upset by this. The menopause has caused problems for me and my husband with intimatcy and now things are so much worse due to this new problem. lumpectomy was for grade 3 DCIS.
