Bleeding after sex
i have had 3 dose of Fec and 10 days ago had my first dose of docataxel which hit me like a brick, was very sick and in absolutely agony. Finally feeling better and had sex with my boyfriend today. We were very careful and slow and I had no problems with dryness and no pain. Very shortly my afterwards I had some vaginal bleeding, no pain just some moderate bleeding with clotting initially (sorry about the tmi), which has now slowed down and almost come to a complete stop about 6 hours later.
Should I be stressing about this? Should I be calling my doctor? My next appointment with my oncologist is in 9 days, can I wait to talk to him then about this or should I be rushing?
Any advice would be very greatly appreciated!!

I just emailed my onc gyn about something like this. My story might be a little different. I had an IUD put in several months before chemo started, before DX even. Sex was still going fine. Chemo starts, I go home for a visit, we go to do it, and it's like I started my period (not heavy, but heavy enough). I thought it was bad luck. Now I know it's not bad luck. Now I'm messaging the gyn onco saying is this something I should talk about with you or the reg gyno.
Marie: Do you have an IUD? I don't want to be nosey, but just curious to see if we had that in common.
This is just me - I think it could wait to talk to him about, but I would definitely talk to him. My MO (oncologist) is a man and he always comes in with a pharmacist guy and another person. It's not really the situation where I want to say - "Um, about last night, doc," but I could talk to his PA if necessary. Since I have a gynecologist oncologist (lol) I thought I would start with her.
If I hear anything back, I'll post back. But when I reread your post, - is it possible you just started that time of the month? Like maybe he jostled everything up and your body decided it was ready now. (Here's were you're thinking - I came here for help and I run into this? I'm getting chemo right now! Usually I make sense!)
I really wouldn't stress unless it comes back with lots of cramps and there's a very heavy flow. Other than that, I think you're ok. Still, let me know what your doc says and I'll say what mine says.

Hi Frill,
I don't have an IUD and am not taking any birth control, I went off the birth control pill about 6 months before being diagnosed after many many years on it and although my oncologist denies it, my cancer is estrogen and progesterone positive so I sometimes wonder if the change in hormones caused my cancer.
Anyways, was definitely not part of my period, this happened 5 days after my period ended and was different. Unfortunately I don't get a break from my periods during chemo. After 3 Fec treatments and 1 docetaxel so far, my periods are still coming on schedule, unfortunately always on chemo week too. I am getting really bad hot flashes now since the taking the docetaxel though so maybe that will change.
Saw my oncologist this week and was told it was probably a tear, that i need to be really careful and if it happens again I need to get in right away so they can examine me. I have docetaxel chemo today and then only one more....I should be having my last chemo on September 1st so my bf and I have decided it's not worth the risk, we will just wait until I have recovered from my last chemo to have sex again, it's just not worth the risk or the hassle.
What chemo are you taking? How are you managing? I had very few side effects on Fec but my first docetaxel really kicked my a** amd was very painful. I'm having some difficulty knowing that after number 2 today, I'm going to be in agony a week from now.....I soooo can't wait until this is over!!
Best of luck!!

Hi, Marie! Gosh, that's terrible, periods AND hot flashes?!?????? I didn't have hot flashes, but lots of women on here did. But it didn't sound like they had to have the "fun" of both.
My treatment was the reverse of everyone else it seems - I did Taxol then FAC. I tolerated Taxol fine, but the FAC kicked my butt. I lost more than 20 pounds from nausea, couldn't get out of bed, shortness of breath.....but it's all done! I had my last chemo over a week ago. It took 8 months instead of 6, but it's over!
If by pain with Taxol you mean joint pain, I did have some, but it subsided. A couple of things that may have been helpful were that I drank a gallon of water a day, took a probiotic 2x a day, and my sister really watched what I ate. Throw a handful of spinach on whatever you're eating - even stuff like spaghetti sauce! I quit soda and coffee except for the occasional cheat day. I didn't do processed foods or fast food much and I tried to do some workout or walking, although I wasn't as great with that as time went on.
I think last night was the first time since all this started that I haven't bled, so maybe that's a good sign. I'm scheduled for a transvaginal ultrasound next week, not for this issue, but they're going to check on that too. I've never had one, but my sister made it sound like great fun (not).
I never thought about a tear - wow, that would be some tear - but with a bit of low WBCs thrown in, maybe that's what it is for me. Somehow though, I'm really suspecting something with the IUD and maybe chemo body changes. Pure speculation, though. I will check in when I know for sure.
I'm so ready for this to be over!!!!!!!!!!
