Swelling of Arm ?

It's going into two weeks since surgery (breast removal) but she still has her drainage system vacuum connected on her, at first the surgeon said she won't be able to do any exercises with that connected on her. Today i noticed a swelling in her forearms idk if the lack of exercise is the cause ? She has been doing work (a lot) with her right side, her good arm and good hand. What could be the reason of swelling ?

Hi Aaron, is her swelling on her surgery side or her good side.......you haven't made that quite clear. If it's her good side it could be that she has been overworking that arm but if it's her surgery side it could be that she needs to have that drain checked out firstly and maybe she needs to move that arm a little more than she is in order for the lymph to move.

It is also possible that she is developing Lymphadema which can develop at any time after surgery. Not knowing her full story makes it difficult to give you a better answer.

When is her next check up? Perhaps you should phone her doc and just check with him/her as to what he/she suggests should happen next.
