The tissue was, as was suspected after mammograms and physical examinations, extremely fibrous and dense, with a few cysts, but everything was benign tissue. Not "probably benign", straight up benign.

It's also likely the root cause of all the chronic pain I had in my actual breasts while they were still on me, so I'm doubly glad they're gone both because I'm high risk due to family history and because they were so awfully painful when they were around.

It was interesting to find out that my left breast was 35 grams larger than the right breast, as I thought it was the opposite based on the incision length; apparently my breast tissue on the right extended further under my arm than it did on the left, so that one got the longer incision. I may have a tiny dog ear starting on the right incision, but it's still pretty swollen (only 4 weeks out) so the plan is to keep an eye on it for a few months and if it does dog ear, they'll just do a revision on it at that point.

Absolutely zero regrets having the BMX done as prevention, though, as in my family if they're going to turn cancerous, it tends to start in the mid-40s and I'm nearly 37.

They're going to follow up with the high risk clinic to see if I still need to come in for twice yearly checkups or mammograms (with a wand, since there's no breast tissue left to squeeze in the plates)--or possibly ultrasounds instead of mammograms or not; I find that out probably next week.
