Buoyancy while swimming has changed

Has anyone else found that their buoyancy has changed? I am fine on my back or while treading water, but my chest sinks when I am on my front. I still float, but I can't keep my head out of the water. The plastic surgeon says he has never heard of the problem, but I told him that probably most people with the problem, drown. :-/ I've never ever had such a problem in the past.

I had the DIEP flap reconstruction, meaning my lower belly was removed and used to create (huge) new breasts. I would think that the fat would make my chest float better, not sink

I didn't get to swimming yet since the reconstruction. But now I'm really curious. I know that I will have some issues - having a LD (swimmer's muscle) flap, but this I never thought of. Do you have implants too or just the tummy fat?

No implants, just transplant of lower belly fat to my chest. My upper stomach has grown, but if anything, that should make me more buoyant.

    It's a very strange phenomenon
