hi everone. I am at home recovering from a hysterectomy for an ovarian mass found on routine pet scan ordered for me after surgery. Results are benign. Thank you Jesus! The surgeon came out and told my husband so he stopped after removing uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes . Dr told me before surgery he would stop there if benign, if not he would keep going. I feel so blessed right now. Its been 2 months since Lumpectomy and dr said i need chemo so thats next. I hope im not too late!! Does any one know how long after surgery they will wait before starting chemotherapy? Every thing i read says 60 to 90 days is pushing it. My surgery was laparoscopy. Thank you

    Hi Karey59:

The benign result is wonderful news. I don't have any relevant experience, but in the absence of a reply from others today, these are my thoughts. In case your team is not proactive, please don't hesitate to ask your surgeons and your medical oncologist as soon as possible for their professional views on when you can safely start chemotherapy following your breast and laparoscopic gynecological surgeries. Also remind your medical oncologist of where you are in terms of the number of days from initial breast cancer diagnosis and the number of days days from lumpectomy. Ask them to work with you as possible to schedule any follow-up and pre-chemo appointments, chemo education, and/or tests (if applicable) in good time before the earliest date you could safely start treatment, so you can begin treatment as soon as you are fit and avoid any unnecessary delay.

    Best,
