Exchange Surgery Recovery (vs Bilateral Mastectomy)

My TE to implant exchange surgery is coming up and I'm wondering how different the recovery will be from the bilateral mx surgery, which was pretty tough -a real shock to the system. It didn't help that I didn't get much sleep for days because I couldn't find a position to lay down.. It was also painful just to move.

Really hoping to hear this will be easier.

Hugs

The difference, to me, was like night and day. I took a week off from work for the exchange surgery but I really didn't need it. The relief from getting the TEs replaced with nice soft implants was fantastic. The most pain I had was in my thighs, where the PS took fat to graft. I was just sore, really.

I found exchange surgery to be very easy, I was mostly numb from the previous surgery so there was not much pain, just some soreness. I actually flew to attend a funeral 10 days later, my husband carried the bags - otherwise I was fine.

Thank you Specialk and Summerangel! You are right that the exchange surgery is a lot easier. I had my surgery yesterday. Besides the anesthesia grogginess/nausea, some pains and aches which I'm managing with the the pain medicine, I feel ok. I am on Toradol and Tylenol. The chest also doesn't look as traumatized as after the BMX. Big difference.

mye - glad to see you on the other side! Yay for it being easier for you than the BMX, so glad!
