So - BC at 49 in 2012. Stage 1 - growth removed, radiation only and tomoxfin for 5 years. Had 21 lymphs removed with the lymph-node dysection with no lymphadema until April 2016 when things seem to have started falling apart...... The gyno found that both ovaries (had a partial hysterectomy several years prior) have cycts. I feel pressure and uncomfortable almost every day - but I'm not letting it change my activity level. So, the gyno says I would be a candidate to have the ovaries removed. The oncologist says that the move from tomoxfin to another drug after the ovaries are removed would be an easy transition - but when I read about the side affects, I'm not sure it would be a better move or not. I have weight gain, tiredness, hot flashes and anxiety now - it looks like these side affects may follow with another drug....... My husband thought that we were told that leaving the ovaries was a good thing so now I'm very conflicted. I would just like to feel better but just can't seem to get an answer as to if having the ovaries removed and changing drugs would accomplish this.

AND THEN..... discovered a lump the middle of May - it has not gone away, actually has gotten a little larger. So the ovary thing is "on hold" until we find out what is going on with the lump. My herbalist, who has been working on the lymphedema that started in April, thinks this lump may be affecting the lymph system and causing the swelling in the arm. uuuggghhh - what is normal anymore?

Sorry if I seem to be rambling...... just really don't know where to turn - every doc seems to have a different take on things. Thought I would reach out and hear some opinions of those who have actually gone through it.

I had my ovaries removed in Sept. Wish I had done it earlier. I was singing and dancing in the kitchen at breakfast. I have less SEs on arimidex than tamox.

I didn't work on my core after sx and I regret it. I know it's not too late but I haven't done anything about it. My weight seems to have settled below my ribs like a mans pot belly. I don't really know how else to describe it.

That and drier skin are the biggest SEs to me. I switched to coconut oil as a moisturizer but haven't done anything about my core except Whine about it.

    Good luck.

Thanks so much for the input. I know exactly what you mean about the "pot belly" - me too!
